I used it between January-July (?) and while it was really good at the beginning, the responses the AI gave could go from short to concise to massive sections of detailed storytelling. But these were the issues I ran into
1. The image generator was subpar, it was incredibly horny and wanted to output nude images quite a lot. It was also not quite clear what the best prompt style you should use, since the devs gave zero help in their discord, so using image tokens were often "wasted" in testing what actually worked.
2. The owners were sometimes communicating with their discord but it was quite sparse. They promised a new image generator since the other one was hilariously outdated and crap compared to competitors, hinting about it in april but it kept getting delayed until the release in late July or August, not sure since I ended my sub there before it came out. They kept pushing the deadline, making their discord community frustrated since the devs were coming up with excuses at every delay, and sometimes going past their promised deadlines without any kind of heads up or decent communication. A lot of people were not happy with their shit.
3. Regarding their discord, we were creating a quite decent community there with people sharing their creations. In the beginning of their summer, they started moderating creations, adding filters for what they said were underage creations but people in the discord kept calling them out on it since creations that were not at all close to that were getting filtered out from sharing (turns out that the anime model generator kept triggering the filter). The owners WERE NOT communicating this at all, only some mods on the discord were trying their best to keep the rest informed. People started creating less and their discord is kind of dead now.
4. Their chat model at one time went berserk, nuking characters and their coherency so that hours of roleplay/storytelling had to restart fully. The chat model could also just not work for HOURS, especially during weekends.
Keep in mind, this was a service that I paid 50 euro per month for the ultimate sub. Not a huge sum but also not a small one either.
All in all, I'd rate Darlink as one of the worst and scummy services to use. I bet other sites got their issues but the owners kept trying to bribe users to give them 5 star ratings on AI sites and when they created polls in their discord, they would vote for the option they clearly wanted to win. Their arrogance were mindblowing, I've seen more professionalism by street beggars than from that team.
It's a shame, since I bet their devs (their owners were technically inept, their 1-2 devs were quite nice although probably prohibited from speaking too much in their discord) were trying their best and it could have been such a nice site if the owners could just fucking communicate. There's way too much competition to neglect that aspect. I know of several people on 1-year subs make chargebacks since they felt so disrespected by the misleading shit and gaslighting in the discord.
